1.2 Can I make a payment on my reservation with somebody else’s credit or debit card?
  • 1.2.1 Miles Car Rental
    If you decide to make your payment through Miles Car Rental, yes, you can make a payment on your reservation with a credit card or debit card of another holder with proper authorization. Please be aware that even though the reservation is paid for with a credit card or debit card of a different holder, it is imperative that the driver under the reservation presents at the counter a credit card or debit card under his/her name with at least $300USD of enough funds to cover the deposit of the rental. Failure to present the mentioned will make you ineligible to rent with us.

    If you decide to make a payment directly at the Hertz counter, the charge card or debit card must be in the renter’s name. The renter’s name must be embossed on the front of the card.     All of American Luxury Auto Rental’s reservations must pay the first 20% in advance to Miles Car Rental and the rest should be paid at the counter. All payments must be done with a credit card under the main driver’s name. The renter’s name must be embossed on front of the card.
1.3 Am I able to use more than one credit or debit card to make the payment on my rental?
  • 1.3.1 Miles Car Rental
    If you make the payment for your reservation through Miles Car Rental, you will be able to use more than one credit card (Please make sure to contact Miles Car Rental for further details).
  • 1.3.2 All Rental Companies: Alamo, Hertz, Sixt, Dollar, Thrifty, Avis, Budget, American Luxury, & National.
  • If you decide to make the payment for your reservation directly at any of the counters (Alamo, Hertz, Sixt, Dollar, Thrifty, Avis, Budget, American Luxury Auto Rental and/or National), you will only be allowed to make a payment with the one credit or debit card you choose, you will not be able to split the payments among different cards.
1.4 Can I use my Bank Card or Debit Card to reserve a vehicle?
  • Most of the airport locations accept Bank Cards or Debit Cards (Check Cards) issued under a Visa or MasterCard Logo. However, Prepaid or stored valued cards will not be accepted for payment on the rental of the vehicle. Debit Cards must count with enough funds to cover the appraised amount of the rental plus a considerable amount to cover for any incidental charges in order to secure the rental.

1.5 Will you accept my company credit card for my rental?

    We will accept your company credit card as long as the company name is on the front of the card and the signature on the back is the signature of the renter.
1.6 Can the payment on a reservation be made at one location and the car rented at another? Can somebody else make the payment for me?

    On the day of the reservation, the renter must meet the requirements at the renting location with their own form of payment, valid driver’s license, and meet the age requirements. Only the reservation holder will be able to make payment at time of rental.
1.7 Can I use coupons towards my rental?
  • 1.7.1 Miles Car Rental
    Includes a discount in every reservation that is made; therefore the use of any additional coupons will void the discount offered by Miles Car Rental.
1.8 Is the deposit a requirement when reserving a rental?
  • 1.8.1 Hertz Car Rental
    Yes, if your reservation was made through Hertz, an estimated deposit of $200USD will be required. Depending on the credit card company, there may be a delay between the time the charges are received and when the hold is released.
  • 1.8.2 Alamo Car Rental
    If your reservation was made through Alamo, a deposit of $200USD will be required. Depending on the credit card company, there may be a delay between the time the charges are received and when the hold is released.

    If your reservation was made through Sixt Rent a Car, a deposit will be required, from Economy to Full-Size categories; the deposit could go from $250USD to 3 times the amount of the rental. For all other categories, deposits are usually 3 times the amount of the rental. Exact amount will be informed at time of pick up.

    If your reservation was made through Dollar Rent a Car, a deposit will be required at time of pickup. The amount of the deposit is $350 USD or 15% of the total rental value. 1.9 What type of credit check is performed when I use my debit card on a reservation?

    Hertz Car Rental’s credit check performed on your debit card is done through the services of Equifax. The scoring process is similar to the credit checks that are done when a person applies for credit. This credit verification process will be performed at the rental location upon your arrival.

2.1 Is it possible to earn bonus/promotional credit for past rentals?

    Yes, provided your qualifying rental included the correct Promotion Code and/or CDP number and qualified under the promotion.
2.2 Can I earn credit in my frequent traveler program for somebody else’s rental?

The Rental Agreement and the name on the frequent traveler account must match for you to earn credit on your frequent traveler program. Please see the rental agency counter for further information.

    Each individual must participate separately and may have only one account within the Program. Neither participation in the Program, nor Gold Plus Rewards Points are transferable. Participants may not combine, barter or otherwise transfer Points with or to other persons
2.3 How do I earn frequent traveler credit on my car rentals?
  • 2.3.1 Hertz Car Rental
    You must make sure to include your Frequent Traveler Membership Number on every reservation that you make. If the rental qualifies for credit, the applicable information will be forwarded to corresponding frequent travel partner. Approved credits will be posted to your account within 6-8 weeks after the return of the vehicle. In case you did not provide your Frequent Traveler Membership Number on the reservation, you may request retroactive credit to be processed on past rentals. You can request this process either online or via email. E-Mail Instructions - You may send an email to Frequent_Travelers@hertz.com. Please be sure to include:
    Your name, address, phone number.
    Copy of your Rental Agreement or the Rental Agreement Number.
    Frequent traveler number.
    Copy of your boarding pass or ticket receipt showing proof of flight (if necessary).

    To use Alamo Insiders service, renters must have a Master Rental Agreement on file with Alamo. The renter’s Alamo Insiders ID Number must be given when the reservation is booked. At the time of rental, Alamo Insiders renters proceed directly to the Alamo Insiders counter or queue and present their registered credit card and driver’s license. It is Alamo Car Rental’s policy, in conjunction with its airline partners, that mileage requests are processed automatically at the end of a rental. In the case of a special mileage promotion, please allow 6 - 8 weeks after the promotion has ended for your miles to appear on your frequent traveler statement.

  • 2.3.7 Dollar Rent a Car
    Offers the Dollar EXRESS program that gives its members the benefit of avoiding long lines at the counter, as they will find an exclusive row and area for preferential service. They can also redeem points for free rental days. Dollar EXPRESS Renter Rewards is an optional benefit program that gives you free rental days instead of frequent flyer miles from airlines. 2.4 What are the requirements to gain credit with different travel partners? How much credit is earned for eligible rentals?

The information may vary depending on the partner; this information can be found on each respective partner’s web site. Please visit the partner page for a list of corresponding Partners or inquire more information at the counter.

2.5 Does my Frequent Traveler Membership number include the leading zeros?
  • 2.5.1 Hertz Car Rental
    Your Membership number does include the zeros.
2.6 Does the final price include Taxes and other fees for the rental?

Once you have chosen the vehicle and any additional items you wish to add to your rental, the rate response will specify all the charges (Taxes, Surcharges, and fees) that are included in your rate quotation.

2.7 Will I be able to reserve a vehicle for over 60 days?

Miles Car Rental website approves rentals for up to 60 days (Depends on the rental company). Should you need to reserve a vehicle with these characteristics, please contact Miles Car Rental for further assistance.

2.8 Is it possible to reserve a one-way rental?

Miles Car Rental offers one-way rentals at reasonable prices. Please contact our customer service agents for further assistance on your one-way rental quote.

2.9 Why won’t the system allow me to confirm a vehicle?

Sometimes the system will not allow you to confirm a vehicle whether because the vehicle you selected is not available at the location you designated, the availability of the vehicle may be limited, or the vehicle may require special handling.

2.10 Is the Loss Damage Waiver coverage (LDW) included in the rate quoted?

The LDW insurance is not included in any Super Economy rates, you can either add it in the mentioned rate, or choose our all – inclusive Package which will include Third Party Insurance and LDW.

American Luxury Auto Rental Applies a deductible that varies depending on the vehicle selected and the deposit will be based on this amount.

2.11 Is any insurance included in the rate quoted?

Miles Car Rental offers different rates, which might or might not include the insurance, make sure to reserve the one that fits the most according to your auto rental requirements.

2.12 A “no cars available” message appears on the screen, what does this mean?

Whenever such message appears on the screen, it may mean the following: the vehicle may require special handling, the vehicle you requested is not available, or the location may not allow reservations to be made online.

2.13 Am I allowed to cancel or make changes to my reservation online?

Unfortunately not. If you wish to make any modifications or to cancel your reservation, please contact Miles Car Rental at your convenience and we will be able to assist you.

2.14 Will there be a penalty if I decide to cancel my reservation?

Please be advised that cancellation policies will be applied to all prepaid reservations as follows:

If a reservation is cancelled prior to a 24-hour period before the pick-up time, a 10% cancellation fee will be charged upon reimbursement.

If a reservation is not cancelled within a 24-hour period from the pick-up time, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged upon reimbursement.

If a reservation is not used and the cancellation is requested after the pick-up date, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged upon reimbursement.

2.15 What if I am under 25 years of age? Is there a way to apply a discount or waive the surcharges off?

Miles Car Rental offers discount coupons every so often for drivers 21-24 years of age. If there is a promotion available, you must contact our Customer Service Agents in order to apply discounts. Please be advised that if you make a reservation through our site without our assistance, the coupon is not automatically applied to the reservation, you must request assistance from one of our agents. Terms and conditions are subject to change depending on participating locations.

Miles Car Rental is able to offer free of surcharge reservations for drivers between 21-24 years of age through Avis and Budget ( Pre-paid only ) (Renters must meet all requirements, contact our customer service for further details).

2.16 What is an additional driver?

An additional driver is a secondary person that must meet all rental qualifications (Age and licensing) to be registered as a second driver for the rental. Most auto rental agencies charge an additional fee per day, per additional driver, unless the additional driver registry has already been included in the rental plan. The names of all additional drivers must be added to the contract at the time of pick up and all drivers must be present at the time.

Please be advised that in most cases, you have the option to add an additional driver if you choose our All-Inclusive Rate (Miles Car Rental). For further details, please contact our Customer Service Department.

2.17 What is the fuel policy on the rental?

In most cases the rental vehicle will be delivered to the renter with a full tank of gas. Upon delivery the renter will be given the option to either prepay for the first tank of gas so that he/she will not have to worry about refueling the vehicle before the return, or to fill up the tank before returning the vehicle and waive the fuel charges to the rental agency. If the renter chooses to decline the fuel pre-payment option and returns the vehicle with an empty tank, the auto rental agency will charge the renter for the cost of the missing fuel plus an additional fee for the refueling service.

2.18 Is it possible to rent the vehicle in one city and drop it off in a different city?

Yes, you are allowed to drop off the vehicle in a different city than the one where rented (Depends on the rental company chosen for the rental). If you are looking to drop off the vehicle in another state, there will be a one way drop charge which may vary depending on the state where you wish to return the rental. The vehicle which you rent may be driven unrestrictedly throughout the continental USA, and as long as the vehicle is returned to the same location where picked up, no additional charges will apply.

    Only allows the rental vehicle to be used in the state of pick-up and the surrounding geographical area (Region) as specified in the table below:

2.19 What happens in case of a toll infraction?

If for any reason you commit a toll infraction, the security camera at the toll pass will take a picture of the vehicle’s license plate and an infraction notice will be sent to the car rental agency. As a result, the infraction fees will be charged to the renter’s credit card on file. Charges may take up to 30 days to appear on the credit card holder’s bill. (Please keep in mind that there will be administration fees per every violation).

2.20 How can I pay for a parking ticket I received while I had the rental?

You will have up to 30 days to make a payment whenever you receive a parking citation because of a parking infraction in the US. Payment instructions will be found on the parking ticket. If for any reason the ticket citation is not paid within the 30 day period, the penalties and interest may increase as much as 200% from the original amount. If the payment is not received within the time allowed, it will then be sent to the registered owner (Rental Agency), to be charged to the renter’s credit card on file.

2.21 How come there is still a hold on my credit card/debit card if I already returned the vehicle?

Once the vehicle has been returned, a charge for the total amount is submitted to the credit card company. The delays between the time charges and when the hold is released may vary depending on the credit card company. Since the credit card issuer is responsible for releasing the authorization hold/funds to their customer’s accounts, you must contact the credit card issuer directly for further assistance.

2.22 What type of vehicles does Miles Car Rental Offer?

For a list of examples of the vehicles we offer, please refer to the “Vehicle Fleet” option that we have available in our website. Please keep in mind that if we do not have that specific type of vehicle when you arrive for pick up, a similar vehicle under that certain category will be assigned to you.

2.23 Does Miles Car Rental offer child seats?

Yes, we have three different types of child seats available for rent. We offer Infant, Child and Booster seats.
Children of age 12 or younger are required to be properly restrained in the back seat. Infants must ride in a rear-facing car seat at all times, in the back and never in the front seat. Toddlers must always ride in the back seat, properly restrained in a forward-facing or convertible car seat.
Children that are too large for a car seat should always use a belt-positioning booster seat until they fit properly in just a lap and shoulder belt.

    Either Cosco FirstRide DX or Cosco Safety 1st Designer Infant: infants 5-22 lbs, 19-29 inches in height; or Graco SnugRide rear-facing: infants 5-20 lbs. All are for backseat rear facing installation and all have a handle to convert to an "infant carrier".

2.24 What is Neverlost?

Neverlost is a GPS System that will help you locate Hertz locations, points of interest, etc. Neverlost is accessible in ten different languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean. The Neverlost System is available for an additional daily charge.

2.25 What is the procedure to follow in case I am involved in an accident with the rental vehicle?

If someone is injured, immediately dial 911 for help. Contact the local authority in order to fill out the necessary accident report.

2.27 Will I be able to drive in the United States with my international driver’s license?

If you are a tourist with an international driver’s license and one of our representatives at the counter can translate the license, then yes, you would be able to drive in the US. In case our representative is unable to read or translate the license, an international driving permit is strongly recommended, in addition to your driver’s license from your country of origin. It is important to note that some states request an international driving license; this information can be researched on the Motor Vehicles Department website from the state where you will be driving.

2.28 Is there a grace period offered in case I am late for the return of the rental?

Yes, there is a 29-minute grace period from the time you picked up the vehicle.

2.29 What should I do if I lost something in the vehicle?

Miles Car Rental is not responsible for anything left in the rental vehicles. However, if an item is found in a rental vehicle, it will be turned into lost and found at the rental location. Please contact the rental location from which you picked up the vehicle for further information.

2.30 Who is the Primary Renter?

The primary renter is the person under the reservation; this person will be listed first on the reservation and will be responsible for providing the payment information, whether in credit or debit card. Primary renter will also be solely responsible for the vehicle that rented. It is important to keep in mind that the primary driver must have a valid driver’s license, a credit card under his name and return tickets (Air and / or Cruise) to meet the rental requirements.

3. Terms & Conditions
3.1 Am I allowed to take the seats out of the rental van?

All seats must remain in the van at all times. You are not allowed to remove any vehicle parts at any time.

3.2 Can I use the rental to tow another vehicle?

Towing is considered a violation on the rental agreement and will not be permitted under any circumstances.

3.3 If I am the only registered driver under the rental agreement, can anyone else drive the rental vehicle?

Only registered drivers will be allowed to drive the rental vehicle. You may add any additional drivers to the rental agreement for an additional cost (Unless you have accepted the rate that includes the additional driver fee). The newly registered drivers will have to present their valid driver’s license at the counter upon registration.

It is not permitted to return the vehicle to a different location from which you rented; doing so will be subject to a penalty charge.

3.7 What happens if I return the rental late?

Late returns will affect the rate assigned to the rental. For late returns please contact the office where you picked up the vehicle. The number for the office is available on the contract or confirmation emailed to you if your reservation was processed through our website. Returns of less than 30 minutes late will not be charged extra hours. However, returns later than 30 minutes after the agreed time will be charged extra. In most cases, a late return of 2 hours will be charged as an extra day.

3.8 What happens if I encounter a problem with the vehicle?

Every reservation that we make includes a basic 24-hour Emergency Roadside Assistance Service with the corresponding Rental Agency. However, additional Emergency Roadside Assistance Services are obtainable for an additional daily fee (Available at the counter). Please keep in mind that all the necessary telephone numbers will be instructed at the time of pickup.

3.9 What is the policy on off-road driving?

All rental vehicles are to be operated on regularly well-maintained roads. Off-road use will be considered as a violation of the rental agreement.

3.10 What is considered a “weekend rental”?

A weekend rental is considered a rental that begins at Noon on Thursday through Noon Sunday. This rental is usually given a special weekend rate.

3.11 Can I rent any vehicle if I am under 25 years of age?

Drivers under the age of 25 are not permitted to rent certain category vehicles, before making a reservation, please contact our customer service department for further details.

    Thrifty’s toll service offers unlimited use of all automatic tolls for a prepaid daily cost. The customer must register or reject the service when picking up the vehicle at the counter. If the user does not register for this service at the counter and incurred on toll charges when using an equipped or express lane, Thrifty will charge an administrative fee of $ 15.00 + toll for each infraction up to a maximum of $ 105.00. These rates and tolls are charged separately at the end of the rental.

5. Privacy
5.1 Will my personal information ever be shared with any other companies?

Your information will not be shared by Miles Car Rental with any other company without your consent.

5.2 How can I request to be removed from Hertz e-mail list, as a #1 Club Gold Member or #1 Club Member?

In order to place a request to be removed from Hertz e-mail list, please submit it in writing and mail to: The Hertz Corporation, P.O. Box 26280, Oklahoma City, U.S.A. Please make sure to include your name, #1 Club Gold Member Number and address.

5.3 Does Alamo distribute my information to any third parties?

Alamo gives its customers a number of choices about the collection, use and distribution of their information. For example, you must affirmatively request to receive email advertisements from Alamo. Every Alamo email advertisement will provide you with the opportunity to remove yourself from the email list.

5.4 Does National distribute my information to third parties?

In order to complete the reservation, National may need to share your information with certain National Locations in the US, Canada, National locations in Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and Asia, which are owned independently. National may also share your information with Europcar Group S.A in order to facilitate your car-hire transaction in Europe.
